Apraxia Kids
Helping children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) find their voice- through education, research, and support networks. They provide training and educational opportunities for professionals and families, and online resources that include information on understanding apraxia, insurance issues, diagnosis and treatment, education, support resources, and a library featuring more than 250 articles on dozens of topics related to children with apraxia of speech. Illinois State Board of Education-Early Childhood Transition Resources
SPP Indicator 12: A compliance indicator that measures the percentage of children referred by Part C prior to age 3, who are found eligible for Part B, and who have an IEP developed and implemented by their third birthdays.
Goal
The goal of Indicator 12 is to ensure seamless transitions for children and families as they move from IDEA Part C to IDEA Part B so they can access appropriate services by their third birthdays.
The Parent Guide- Educational Rights and Responsibilities: Understanding Special Education in Illinois
This guide is written for parents of children who receive or are suspected of needing special education and related services, teachers, education administrators and professionals, and service providers. Special education and related services are supports and services provided to children with disabilities. Certain procedures must be followed to determine if a child is eligible to receive special education services. Those procedures are written in federal and state laws. Special education laws and procedures can be complicated. This guide explains the requirements in a way that relates to all groups—parents, school professionals, and others.

Transition from Early Intervention to Early Childhood Education
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) website provides information and resources on this transition from early intervention services to early childhood education. ISBE transition information is found on their website under Indicator 12-Early Childhood Transition. Resources for families and professionals can be found on this page. All children who have been receiving services through Early Intervention and referred to an Local Education Agency (school district) for Early Childhood Special Education must have eligibility for services determined by their third birthday, and if found eligible, have an Individualized Education Program developed to provide special education services by their third birthday.
When I’m Three Transition Guide
The When I’m 3 Transition Guide is a product of the Illinois Birth-5 Transition Guidance Committee in collaboration with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). This guide is also provided to parents/guardians by the Child and Family Connections service coordinators, when their child is transitioning from early intervention to early childhood education. The guide is designed to assist families through the transition process with information on the transition steps and suggestions for preparing and participating in the process.
The guide is available online at the ISBE website in English, Spanish, Arabic and Polish. Printed copies can be obtained from the Illinois Child Find Project
