JCFS Chicago
JCFS Chicago strives to enhance social-emotional well-being for adults, children, teens and families, and to maximize potential for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They provide a wide range of services, from counseling and psychological evaluation, pediatric therapies, autism and disorders, early childhood development, to legal advocacy and more. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
NAMI is the National, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Begun in 1979, today NAMI is an alliance of more than 600 local affiliates offering support groups, podcasts, publications and more to raise awareness and provide support and education to those in need.
National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD)
NCLD publishes research reports and resources to help families and educators enhance understanding of learning and attention issues and improve practices to support all learners. A learning disability or disorder can include listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, math, and social skills. The NCLD Checklist is an interactive tool to help one understand signs of LDs and decide what to do next. Then use the resources provided to learn more.
National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations (NCPMI)
The Pyramid Model is a conceptual framework of evidence-based practices for promoting social and emotional competence in infants and young children. Funded by the Office of Special Education Programs, NCPMI works to improve and support the capacity of state systems and local programs to implement this early childhood system to improve the social, emotional, and behavioral outcomes of young children with, and at risk for, developmental disabilities or delays. The NCPMI focuses on reducing the use of inappropriate discipline practices, promoting family engagement, using data for decision-making, integrating early childhood and infant mental health consultation and fostering inclusion.
National Father’s Network
Celebrates and supports fathers and families of children with special health care needs by providing news, resources and event information.
Sibling Support Project
Through books for and about brothers and sisters, online groups, and workshops on sibling issues, the Sibling Support Project provides information and resources on support for the brothers and sisters of those who have health, developmental or mental health concerns.
